From fun things to do when it’s raining, to Top Boy’s favourite YouTube Videos, Top Boy’s Top 10 features it all!
All you need is a small plate, a drinking straw, dish detergent and water. Pour two drops of dish detergent in the center of the plate. Carefully run water over the detergent, to create some foam. Place the plate on a flat surface, and point the straw into the water. Blow gently, to create bubbles. The more gently you blow, the bigger the bubbles.
Great for 3 or more children. Each child chooses a 'secret' animal part, and then draws it on KG card. For example, one draws the head of a horse, another draws the legs of a giraffe, and the third draws the tail of a monkey. Once everyone’s finished drawing, everyone cuts out their parts and tapes them together. Hey – there’s a whole new animal!
All you need is a pad of paper and a pen or pencil. On one corner of the pad, starting from the left, draw a stick figure, a box car, cartoon dog, or anything you want to put into motion. On the next page, repeat the drawing, with the figure in a slightly different pose, and a little bit more to the right. Repeat this, on each page, until you reach the right side of the pad. To see your cartoon in action, just flip the pages with your thumb!
A heap of extra cushions, pillows and bolsters can turn any couch into a fabulous Fort of Fun from which to fight off pirates, bandits and space invaders. Throw in a couple of fluffy blankets, and pretend they’re sails for your very own flying fortress.
Take KG card, glue, glitter, cellophane tape and cookie moulds. Trace around the cookie moulds shapes, spread glue over the shape and decorate with glitter. Wait for it to dry. Make loops of the cellophane tape, and attach to the back of your glitter shapes. Put them up all over your room.
Take a shoebox. Cut a hole in the side of the box - large enough for a child’s hand to fit inside. Place a ‘mystery’ object inside the box, and see if they can guess what it is. If they can’t guess right away, give them helpful hints and clues.
Just like hide and seek, but with ordinary household objects (a toy, a cup, etc.) One child covers his eyes, while the other places the ‘secret’ object somewhere in plain view (on the bookshelf, on TV cabinet). The hider must then give the seeker clues as to the mystery object, and hints as to how near of far they are from finding it.
Take a large plastic box with a lid. Put in pencils, erasers, felt pens, colour pencils, a sharpener, a ruler and a few sheets of paper. Keep it in a special place, for whenever you feel like doing a little creative writing. And remember - it needs to be well-stocked at all times, so put everything back in, carefully.
Pack a basket with paper plates, sandwiches, fruit, juice, and other healthy treats. Spread out a cheerful blanket in the living room, or the balcony, and have a super picnic lunch, indoors! Add to the masti, by wearing picnic clothes, and caps and sunglasses.
Take a paper bag, and some crayons or felt pens. Draw your favourite funny face on the bag. Add a little wool, for hair. Or, buttons for eyes. And give it a big, big smile. Your very own puppet is now ready to play.
